The story behind Pauli Broccoli & Friends

The story behind Pauli Broccoli & Friends

Take a huge risk, or sit back and do nothing? These were the thoughts in the back of Birgit Waites’ mind for many years. As an internationally renowned health expert, mother, and nutritionist, one thing became painfully clear: Our children have little chance of growing into healthy, caring and happy adults, unless someone stepped up and offered a solution.

Birgit became committed to creating a global company to provide healthy, educational and inspirational alternatives, instead of just the traditional health information and fantasy role models available to kids and parents today.

The next step became clear overnight. It was time to dedicate 100% of her time to develop her vision. Pauli Broccoli & Friends were on the way to become global health heroes and educators!

It was time to make Green The New Cool!

After Birgit’s first book “The Adventures of Pauli Broccoli” became an absolute hit, she knew what she had to do next: Pursue exactly what the world is in dire need of; empowering children and families through healthy, fun, positive education and entertainment.

After all: What is more important than protecting our most valuable resource; our children?

The Impact

Let’s look at some staggering facts:

The percentage of children with obesity in the United States has more than tripled since the 1970s. As the rest of the world becomes more westernized, other countries are not far behind. Today, about one in five school-aged children (ages 6–19) is obese.

Childhood obesity has immediate and long-term impacts on physical, social, and emotional health. For example:

Children with obesity are at higher risk for having other chronic health conditions and diseases that impact physical health, such as asthma, sleep apnea, bone and joint problems, type 2 diabetes, and risk factors for heart disease.

Children with obesity are bullied and teased more than their normal weight peers, and are more likely to suffer from social isolation, depression, and lower self-esteem.

In the long term, childhood obesity also is associated with having obesity as an adult, which is linked to serious conditions and diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and several types of cancer.

We needed to do something FAST! Create a brand that addresses the childhood obesity issue, along with other modern day dilemmas our kids face.  A brand that kids find “cool.”
